New Zealand Animal

●　Possum　●
It seems to be a mouse but it is similar to a kangaroo. They bring up babies in their pouch. In 1837, they were brought from Australia because New Zealanders make furs. By the way, do you know how many sheeps there are in New Zealand? There are about 60 million. Right then, do you know how many possums there are in New Zealand? There are about 70 million! The number of possums is more than the sheep.

Recently, New Zealanders are troubled about number of possums. They eat a lot of plants and destroy ecosystem. New Zealanders make sweaters and scarves from possum’s fur. New Zealand is only country which can get possum’s furs. In other countries, Possums are protected.


Possums are famous for acting dead. When enemies come, they act dead to defend themselves. “Play possum” means Shindahuri in Japanese. I have never seen that but it seems perfect performance.

Halloween

　☆★　Halloween's Costume　★☆

The children dress up at the Halloween. They usually dress up as ghosts, witches, bats, black cats, goblins, zombie or Frankenstein. Halloween’s theme is scary and weird but they prefer monsters to fairies in recent years. Boys dress up cool and girls dress up cute. A season of Halloween in America, some specialty shops of the Halloweens open and sell only Halloween’s items. The costume which is the most popular among children is witches. Next popular costume is pirate’s costume. The third is vampire’s costume. Some children buy costumes at Halloween’s shop and others made it by mother.

Jenever Festival

I’m interested in Jenever Festival because it seems fun! People dress up and drink for two days. Jenever is alcoholic drink. Do you know ’Gin’? Jenever is the origin of the gin. Jenever Festival is held in Belgium. It is held in a city which calls Hasselt. This city looks beautiful.

Jenever Festival is held October every year. It is not well-known but some Japanese who like Belgian beer go this festival. During festival, all people drink Jenever and eat Jenever foods. People enjoy dancing and see concert. The biggest event is race. What kind of race do you think? Do you think hose race or boat race? It is mistake… it is waiter race! Waiters carry Jenever and walk fast. People who see it are very excited. I couldn’t find out what a winner gets but I think winner is admired very much from many people.

I’d like to go to Belgium and join Jenever Festival. I can’t drink alcohol yet but I become over twenty year old, I’d like to go there.

Movies

This summer vacation, I didn’t see any new movies but I saw many movies on TV. I saw KISARAGI, MAIKOhaaaaan!, DORORO and Men in Black. Most of them are Japanese movies. Recently I’m interested in Japanese movie and now I want to see Detroit Metal City and 20th century Boys. My friends saw DMC and they said “this movie is very good. It makes us fun!” I want to see this movie more.


●　Transporter 2　●

My favorite movie is Transporter 2. I like Transporter 2 better than Transporter 1 because there are a lot of action scenes in Transporter 2 than Transporter 1. The leading character name is Frank Martin. Jason Statham plays him. He is cool-headed and he always wears suit and tie. He is very strong and drives very well. This movie is not only action movie but also car action movie. He is pro transporter. If he gets money from employer, he transports anything. He transports a boy who is very rich at Transporter 2. One day, a boy is removed. Bad guys ask his parents money but their aim is not money. They have other aim. Frank fights bad guys to help a boy and intercepts bad guy’s aim. In the last of this movie, he helps a boy and disappears from a boy and his family. I think the highlight of this movie is his driving technique. He drives Audi A8. I don’t know about car but it is very cool.

You must feel refreshed after you see this movie. I recommend this movie. Next year Transporter 3 is going to release. I want to see it very much!

Summer Vacation

I went to Ishikawa Prefecture with my family. I drove a car because I got drivers license before I went to Ishikawa Prefecture. I was very nervous but we arrived there safely. We went to the Kenrokuen. It is famous Japanese garden. I saw a fountain which is the oldest in Japan. I thought it is not different modern fountains. Then we went to the market and bought many fish and shellfish for dinner. We stay at the cottage for two days. First night, it was heavy rain. The thunder rolled many times. I felt scary but at the next morning it was stopped. This heavy rain was rare. Next day, we went to Kanazawa Station. We ate susi for lunch. It was delicious. We bought some souvenirs after ate lunch. My sister and my brother couldn’t go to this trip so we bought many souvenirs for them. We bought a sponge cake, dried fishes and shrimp rice crackers. We gave them after we get home. They were pleased at getting many souvenirs. I went to Ishikawa Prefecture for the first time. I had a great time.


I went to Nagashima to see open-air concert. I saw many singers and groups performances. It was held from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. It was clear day. The highest temperature was 39 degrees so it was very hot day. My favorite group “HOME MADE KAZOKU” appeared. I was very excited. This concert is hold every year so I want to go this concert next year.

KOMEDA

☆KOMEDA Café☆

In Nagoya, there are many cafés. You cannot see so a lot in other prefectures. Have you ever eaten Shironowaru? You can eat it at Komeda Café. It is a kind of cake. Cold ice cream is on hot bread. It is very delicious. Nagoya is Komeda Café’s birthplace. Komeda café is the most famous café in Nagoya. （⇒MENU）　The people who live in Nagoya like free gifts so if you order a cup of coffee, you get a cup of coffee and confectionery. Breakfast special is very cheap and can be satisfied. When you order breakfast special, you can eat slice of bread and a boiled egg and a cup of coffee at a price of a cup of coffee. I recommend Komeda very much! I think we can not only drink coffee but also relax.

The Beijing Olympic

This year, the Olympic Games is going to hold in Beijing from August 8th to 24th. Do you know how many competitions are you going to hold? It is going to hold 28 competitions, 302 events. The mascot characters seem to be children. There are five children and the name is FUWA. It is imaged the Olympic games of five rings. It is mean that “Welcome to Beijing” when the name of five characters connect. I think they are very cute.
The main stadium is Beijing nation stadium. It looks like a nest of a bird. Opening ceremony and closing ceremony is held there.

The Beijing Olympic has some problems. The first is Tibet problem. The Tibet demonstration was held this year. The second is environmental problem. It is thought the air pollution gives a bad influence for athletes. Please look at this picture.We can understand air is polluted.
There some problems but I hope the Beijing Olympic will succeed!

Laughter

●Smile Therapy ●
In India, there is Smile Therapy for people who can’t go hospital. Smile Therapy makes people happy and cure a patient of disease. Laughter is good for health and relaxes us. In Japan, there is “Japan Smile Therapy Association”
Laughter is good for beauty treatment and there is a mirror effect. Laughter transfers to others by mirror effect. When you smile, others smile too.
